Interaction between WC and Inconel 625 under Solid and Liquid State Sintering Conditions

چکیده

Cobalt is the most used metal binder in hard metals since its extraordinary wetting, adhesion and mechanical properties. Nevertheless, it has been recognized genotoxic cancerogenic with higher toxicity combination WC. To substitute Co an alternative binder, interaction between WC must be taken into account. In this work, IN625 considered as a due to desirable of high-temperature strength corrosion/oxidation resistance. A characterization was carried out by means Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDXS) Diffraction (XRD). Depending on sintering temperatures, different phases were evidenced at WC–IN625 superalloy interface. From 1250 °C 1300 °C, where solid-state takes place, (Cr,Mo)23C6, W2C (Cr,W) solid solutions detected. At temperature 1350 melts formation additional phases, such intermetallic Ni4W phase (Mo,W) (Mo,Nb) solutions, observed. The precipitation NbC (Mo,Cr)23C6 carbides also

Liquid Phase Sintering of (Ti,Zr)C with WC-Co

(Ti,Zr)C powder was sintered with WC-Co following an industrial process, including an isotherm at 1410 °C. A series of interrupted sintering trials was performed with the aim of studying the sintering behavior and the microstructural evolution during both solid-state and liquid-state sintering. Reference samples, using the same elemental compositions but with the starting components TiC and ZrC...

Mg partitioning between solid and liquid iron under the Earth’s core conditions

Recent studies show the Earth’s core may contain more magnesium (Mg) than previously thought, with perhaps up to 6 wt% in the early core and ∼1wt% still existing now. The Mg partitioning between liquid and solid iron (Fe) under the relevant conditions is needed, therefore, in order to establish whether the presence of magnesium will have an effect on core properties, particularly those of the i...

Linkage between Ductile Fracture and Extremely Low Cycle Fatigue of Inconel 718 under Multiaxial Loading Conditions

Ductile fracture and extremely low cycle fatigue (ELCF) [1] are two common failure modes in aircraft engines and turbomachinery designs [2]; however, the linkage between these two failure modes under multi-axial loading conditions has never been systematically studied. Inconel 718 (IN718) is one type of high temperature alloys widely used in turbomachines. Specially designed specimens and tests...

Evaluation of microstructure and corrosion behavior of dissimilar laser joint between Inconel 625 and AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel

Dissimilar weld joints between stainless steels and nickel based super alloys are extensively used in petrochemical, gas and oil applications. These joints jave great challenges from metallurgical transformations point of view. In this research, microstructural evolutions and corrosion behavior of laser weld joint between Inconel 625 and AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel were investigated. Ferr...
